Wonderful Fun Book For Kids What A Bragger by Lee Ann Mancini

What a Bragger by Lee Ann Mancini is an excellent book to add to your child's or church libraries.

As a parent or Grandparent it is important to have books that your children will enjoy reading and at the same time learn an important message. This book is one of those books. It has a valuable lesson and teaches it in a fun way.

Melissa Blowfish likes to brag about everything. She is always bragging to her friends. They get irritated with her and her friend Corey talks to his Mom about her. Why is Melissa bragging and what should Corey do are some of the things he explores with his Mom. In Corey finding a solution on dealing with Melissa's bragging it helps your child learn what to do also.

This is a brightly colored book and fish are the main characters. It will be fun to read with your child and discuss with them. It teaches faith, about praying and thinking of others.
My 3 year old grandson loved the book and it is one that will be read over and over.

If you want to purchase the book or learn more about it you can at
GLMpublishing.net

I think this is a good book for 3-7 year olds.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from GLM Publishing through bookcrash.com for my honest opinion and review.

Be sure to check this book out I don't think you will be disappointed and your kids will enjoy it too.

Fun Fantasy For Kids in The Word Changers by Ashlee Willis My Review

24605019

The Word Changers by Ashlee Willis is a fun fantasy book that kids will love. If you are a fan of Narnia you will, I am sure, like this book also. As a Grandmother I am always looking for good books that the kids and I will enjoy and this book does not disappoint. I would highly recommend this book and admit I enjoyed reading it too.

Posey finds escape from her troubled family by going to the library and reading books. When she wakes up inside a book in place of the Princess she finds that things could be worse than what she came from. She must find a way to get back to her world and find the Princess she replaced and all before something bad happens to her.

If your kids or you like a good fantasy, are a big bookworm and want a good message then you must read this book. There is a message of forgiveness, moving beyond our hurt to learning to love.
This is such an enjoyable book. You have a strong willed, courageous girl as the main character and you can relate to her easily. If you are looking for a book that is interesting, exciting and wholesome that throws in good fantasy then you must read this book. I give 5 Stars.

Conquest Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of the book through BookCrash. In exchange for my honest review.

Adventure Book For Your Kids

I am always looking for good fun books that kids will enjoy and want to read and with this book Voyage with the Vikings The Imagination Station book 1 by Marianne Hering and Paul McCusker I have found just that. It is also a series so it will keep your kids busy reading for awhile. I like the fact that the book has adventure, history and is a Christian book that you don't have to worry about kids reading.  I think the kids will love the adventure and not even realize they might be learning about history too in this book.

Beth wants to show her cousin Patrick the Imagination Station so they go to see Mr Whittaker's.  He says the station isn't working, but when the two step in, it starts to work. A letter appears and it says Albert is trapped and they have to find a Viking sunstone. Beth and Patrick want to help so they take the Imagination Station back in time to the Vikings to find the sunstone. Will Beth and Patrick be able to find the sunstone, retrieve it and get back to the Station and home? Will Leif Erikkson help them find it or will his Dad Erik the Red harm them? Will they be able to get the sunstone and help Albert? You will have to read the book to find out.

I  enjoyed this book even at my age. I think the quest will be great fun for your kids and they will want to read this book and the rest of them too. It is a great book for kids age 6 to 10 they will really enjoy reading this book.

The next book in the series is Attack at the Arena The Imagination Station Book 2 by Marianne Hering and Paul McCusker
In this book the cousins Beth and Patrick continue their quest to help Albert and go back to 5th Century Rome.

Children's Book Week May 12-18 Book Suggestions

This is Children's book week and I thought today I would suggest some books that your kids might like. To begin with I would suggest for younger children some books my grandson loves like Veggie Tales Books. He is two and loves those books but also right now some of his favorites are Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dowdney, ( he called and tried to read this one to me yesterday well at least he got the title right and then just jabbered away but I understood)  as well as Curious George by H A Rey, Star Wars and Clifford the Big Red Dog by Norman Bridwell.  So any of these would be great for reading to your toddlers and then as they start learning to read to read themselves.

Next for the older children they might like books like Bryan Davis Dragons In Our Midst Series. There are four books to the series and it is excellent for older kids who like magic and fantasy as well as dragons. Bryan Davis has other good series of books too. Another series they might like is DragonKeeper Chronicles by Donita K Paul this is a five book fantasy series also. For older teens besides these two fantasy series  they might also like the Left Behind Series for Kids by Jerry B Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. This series of books is based on the adult books of the Left Behind Series but from the kids point of view. I have read these and they are excellent too. These are just a few of the books that you might want to check into for your kids. There are many more to choose from and the most important thing is to get the kids reading.
What books do your kids like? If you have suggestions to add to our Getting Kids to Read List let me know.

TBT and a Good Choice to Get Kids Reading Little House On The Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Today I decided to combine my Throwback Thursday choice with a good choice to get Kids reading. My choice is the Little House On The Prairie Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

As a kid and young adult I loved the Little House on the Prairie books. I love the history of the places Laura and her family lived in and through each book I got a new understanding of the time period, the hardships, the fun, the family life, and faith. I just loved it all. My kids loved the books too and we even took are children when the were teens to visit some of the places that Laura talks about in the book. This series would be great to start with reading to children and then they can step up and read them for themselves as they get older. You can not go wrong including this series in your child's, or for that fact, your library.
Here are some sites that will give you more information on what museums and places to see related to Laura Ingalls Wilders life. I am sure there are more but these are the ones I know about.

If you want information on the museum and site of the Little House in the big Woods Pepin, WI check out http://lauraingallspepin.com/

If you want info on the Laura Ingalls Wilder home site in Burr Oak, IA check out http://www.lauraingallswilder.us/

If you want more information on Laura Ingalls Wilder and her life in South Dakota you can check the website at http://www.discoverlaura.org/

If you want more information on Laura Ingalls Wilder home in Mansfield Mo where she wrote the books check the website at http://www.lauraingallswilderhome.com/

If you want more info on the Little House on the Prairie  books check out http://www.littlehousebooks.com/

I hope you will think about reading and sharing these books with your children. They are fun and informative. Great series to use if you homeschool also.

Getting Kids to Read and Suggested Books

My love for reading started around fourth grade in school when a teacher took the time to teach me how to sound words out and help me read better. It wasn't a chore anymore and I fell in love with it. As a parent I made sure my kids were read to when they were little and then made sure they had books. They both are readers now, especially my daughter who, like her mother, never leaves home without a book. When my Grandkids came along I started reading to them from the day they were born. When they got older I bought them books. In fact my Granddaughter really began to read when I started buying books that were her own.  They are both adults now and they still read all the time. They still get books from me for their birthdays, Christmas and just any time I can get them one. My littlest Grandson is 2 yrs old and we have made sure he has books too. His mom takes him to the library all the time and he loves to go. I make sure he gets books of his own too and though I don't see him except on weekends I try to make sure we read something when I can. I have been thinking about getting on Skype and read to him but that has not happened yet.

I think it is so important for children to have books and to read. Start them young and hopefully they will learn to love books too. I have said all of this because I thought each week I would try to suggest a book for children and teens. I will not suggest any books that I have not read since I would not know if the content would be suitable. I hope if you have any suggestions for books for kids you will let me know.  I want to get our children back to reading and enjoying books as much as we do.

This weeks book selection for kids is really a whole series that I think they will love. It is The Chronicles of Narnia Series by C. S. Lewis
Product Details
This series is good for kids just starting to read on their own, and also books to read to smaller children too.  The books are full of wonder and magic. It is about growing up and facing our fears as well as finding who we really are. It is about following God but it is all put in away that is fun and exciting and easy for kids to understand. I recommend you read all the books for the start. These would make great stories to share with the whole family. I have to admit I enjoyed reading them also. C S Lewis has a unique way to get the message of God across. These are wonderful books and should be included in every child's or for that fact adults libraries. I highly recommend them to all.

Throw Back Thursday Books I loved and Read in the past

When I was a kid I didn't like to read because I struggled so much. In fourth grade I was sent to a group to help me with my reading and to get me caught up to me grade level. The teacher was great and actually made reading fun. It was in this group that I learned to sound words out and to have fun reading. I soon was reading at my level and beyond and was always with a book. I would wake up early on Saturdays about 6 am just so I could read. More than once I would sneak a book to read when I was suppose to be sleeping. As I start being able to buy books my love grew even more because now these were my books to have and read anytime I wanted.
In the summer between my 4th and 5th grade the Bookmobile parked every week in the dead end street next to my house. The first day it arrived I couldn't wait to go in and check out the books. I can remember just looking at all of them, having trouble finding one to check out and take home to read. The driver finally showed me this one book and said I would probably like it and so I decided on that one... I will never forget that book. I loved it. Now years later I have found this book again and think it is the perfect one to start off with on our Throw Back Thursday blog post. I think any child would love reading this book it is so fun and I would recommend. The book is
