Interesting Adventure Found in The Constantine Codex by Paul L Maier

The Constantine Codex

The Constantine Codex by Paul L Maier is an interesting adventure centered around the finding of an old manuscript that could be very important to the Christian World and maybe even change the Bible. It is fascinating at times and slow at other times. There is a part of the book devoted to a debate where Dr. Jon Weber has to defend Christianity against the Islam religion. I thought this part, though important to the book, could have been done in a few less chapters than it was. The overall plot was good but at times it seemed to drag. I did enjoy the book and once it got going into the real mystery and plot finding the codex and then trying to get it to the United States for evaluation before it is revealed to be found or lost forever was fast moving and great. I was surprised at some of the story but that is always a good thing. Maier keeps you guessing and weaves Church history into this book which is very interesting. Overall this is a good book, just needs to move along a little faster. If you enjoy a good mystery, history and Christian history then you will want to read this book.

Wonderful Fun Book For Kids What A Bragger by Lee Ann Mancini

What a Bragger by Lee Ann Mancini is an excellent book to add to your child's or church libraries.

As a parent or Grandparent it is important to have books that your children will enjoy reading and at the same time learn an important message. This book is one of those books. It has a valuable lesson and teaches it in a fun way.

Melissa Blowfish likes to brag about everything. She is always bragging to her friends. They get irritated with her and her friend Corey talks to his Mom about her. Why is Melissa bragging and what should Corey do are some of the things he explores with his Mom. In Corey finding a solution on dealing with Melissa's bragging it helps your child learn what to do also.

This is a brightly colored book and fish are the main characters. It will be fun to read with your child and discuss with them. It teaches faith, about praying and thinking of others.

5 stars for This Page Turner Now and Forever Wild at Heart bk 2 by Mary Connealy

Cover Art

Now and Forever Wild At Heart book 2 by Mary Connealy is a book you don’t want to miss. Shannon is a strong-willed, self-reliant, strong woman who has homesteaded a place where she is raising sheep. She is literally thrown into mountain man Tuckers life when she saves him from a bear by throwing him and herself into the river. Little did she know how much this one act would change their lives  forever.

I really enjoyed this book. Shannon is a strong woman that is trying to make up for things she saw and did in the Civil War by caring for her sheep. Tucker is a self-sufficient Mountain man. He and Shannon have to be strong and courageous to survive their ordeal. Then they are thrown together relying on each other and God. Shannon has to save Tucker and ends up married to him. This is their journey of first survival, then finding who is burning homesteaders out before Shannon is the next homestead targeted, all the while learning to love themselves, each other and God. It is Shannon learning to let go of her past and let God heal her heart.

This is a great fast moving exciting book. It combines, love, romance, the frontier, faith as well as a mystery. Who could ask for more. I had not read the first book in this series but this book worked as a stand-alone book too. I will be getting the first one because if it is as good as this one I don’t want to miss it. I highly recommend this book especially if you like romance, mystery and western books.

5 Stars for The Presence Experiencing More of God by Alec Rowlands

23322556

The Presence Experiencing More of God by Alec Rowland is a wonderful book to add to your library. It leads you into becoming more close with God and to have a abundant experience and not just an acquaintance with God.
This book helps you to walk close to God. It is written in a way that is easy to follow and is a good one to read over and over. There is a difference between knowing God and having a relationship with God. Alec Rowland tells us how he came to espe3rience and get to know and have a relationship with God and with telling us his story he helps us to see just how we too can experience and know God.

I found that this book challenged me to renew my walk with God and to want to delve more into learning and experiencing all God has for me. It was such a great reminder of God's love and commitment to us as His children and how we should be walking and letting Him lead us in everything in our life.

I would highly recommend this book to those who want to grow in there faith and to experience God and what He has for their life's too.

Exciting Twist on History and Legend

Sleepy Hollow Children of the Revolution by Keith R. A. DeCandido is a unique and interesting look at the legend of Sleepy Hollow and of history.

Ichabod Crane has come back from the dead and finds himself in modern day Sleepy Hollow working with Abbie against evil and demons. Ichabod is told in a vision from his wife Katrina he must find his Congressional Cross that he received for bravery but the kicker is he died before he received it. Abbie and Ichabod have to fight the evil to find and retrieve it and stay alive.
The way the author intertwines the legend of Crane and Sleepy Hollow with the history of the American Revolution makes a fantastic unusual story. This book is based on the TV show Sleepy Hollow and I have to say when I was reading it I could hear and see the image and voice of the actors that play Abbie and Ichabod in the show. This book is a great way to enhance your enjoyment of the TV show while keeping you guessing and on the edge of your seat while reading it. If you are a fan of the TV show, like history and are interested in the old legends then you will enjoy how these are all mixed together in this book.

I enjoyed this book and am a fan of the TV show so I think this book adds to the story. It moves along and isn't too dark either. I would recommend this book to those who like a twist on history and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow as well as those who like a good different story.

5 Star Mystery in The Cemetery Club

The Cemetery Club (Darcy and Flora Cozy Mystery) by Blanche Day Manos & Barbara Burgess is a great cozy mystery that mixes faith, mystery and family along with suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.

Darcy has come home to her mother’s after the death of her husband. When her mother Flora along with Darcy find the body of Flora’s good friend Ben at the cemetery then things get really interesting  and dangerous for Darcy and Flora. Can they find out why and who killed Ben before more people are killed or the killer succeeds in killing them?

Darcy and Flora remind me of my daughter and me. We have a special bond and it seems we can always find ways to make things interesting. I think I could feel right at home sitting in their kitchen sharing stories while drinking coffee. That is part of the charm of this book, being able to feel like you know them and could be right in the middle of this mystery helping them solve it as well as getting in trouble right along with them. I like that the book keeps you guessing. It is one of those books that you don’t want to put down but then when you get to the end you wish there was more. It has just the right mix of suspense, faith and family. I give this book 5 stars and would highly recommend it to others.

I think one of my favorite quotes from the book is, pg. 38 “Trust God, Darcy. He knows the end from the beginning.” This is a very comforting thought. And then another favorite was “To her way of thinking, in all times of stress, coffee helped.” Pg. 48. I so agree!

I loved this book. I think that anyone who likes a good mystery, with twists and turns will want to read this book. I can’t wait to read the other two in the series.

When Mountains Won't Move by Jacob Hawk A Good Book For Those Struggling

When Mountains Won't Move How To Survive A Struggling Faith by Jacob Hawk is a wonderful learning and helping tool for any one's library.

If you know someone or if you are struggling yourself this book is great to help you work through those struggles. Jacob Hawk has broken down into chapters why we question our faith and how to keep from giving up on our faith. It is a great reference to have to read when struggles come your way to help you remember how God loves you and is there to help you through those struggles,.
It is in easy to understand and read format so that anyone no matter how new or old in their faith in God can read and be helped by this book. It has questions at the end of each chapter to help you review and work through what the chapter has shown you. This would be a good book for a small group to use also.

One of my favorite parts was on page 24 when Jacob tells us that to move past our weakness we must first acknowledge and embrace our weakness. " Embracing weakness makes mountains move." Also " To embrace weakness, we must admit when we're weak." Boy he is telling us that it is okay to have weakness in fact to know we do and to admit it is how we mend and move on. Wow!

This is a great addition to your library and a good book to read again and again. It is also a book to share with those you see and know that are facing struggles to help them move their mountains too.

I would recommend this book to others. You can purchase this book from:

The Patmos Deception by Davis Bunn an Excellent Read

If you are a fan of historical fiction, suspense, intrigue  mixed with a historical mystery and faith then you must read The Patmos Deception by Davis Bunn. This is a fast paced and interesting read. It has just the right mix of suspense, history and mystery to keep you wanting more.

Nick, the journalist, with his friend Carey, the forensic archaeologist, find themselves in the middle of a mystery of who is stealing Grecian antiquities when they are asked to find out who is stealing these antiquities and recover them for Greece. Dimitri the charter boat captain and his first mate Sofia are caught in the middle of smuggling to try to stay afloat and are thrown into the  middle of Nick and Carey's investigation. Will they find out who are the culprits and recover the antiquities without losing more than just the antiquities. With lives hanging in the balance they have to hurry to set it all straight.

This book in some ways reminds me of the old Indiana Jones movies. I enjoyed the book and characters. Archaeology is something that always piques my interest and Davis Bunn has brought archeology, church history and mystery together to form a must read book. If you are a church history buff, mystery junkie who loves archeology then get this book to read. The ending leaves you hanging and wanting more. I hope that there will be more books with Nick and Carey in new investigations.

As Gouda As Dead by Avery Aames 5 Stars my Thoughts

As Gouda As Dead A Cheese Shop Mystery by Avery Aames is one you won't want to miss. The series just gets better and better with each book and this book is no exception. It is a great new addition to the series you won't want to miss. It has some great recipes included.

Love is in the air at Providence and every one is caught up in the festivities. Charlotte and Jordan are getting married, couples have come to take part in the Love festival activities so what could go wrong? Murder has a way of putting love on the back burner.  Charlotte has to help the police chief solve the murders so that things can move forward. Can she help solve the murders or will her snooping get her into trouble, will she become the next victim?

I love this book. It was a page turner that makes you not want to stop until you have finished it. I love the way you  can picture the town of Providence and the people. This could be a small town that is familiar to you and the people are so relatable. I know that some of the people in this book remind me of people I know and can relate to. This always is a plus when reading a book relating to the people and place. Who doesn't know a quirky Grandmere or a snooty control freak like Belinda Bell or Paige Alpaugh. I also like that Charlotte is a strong, clever, smart, and loving person that adds to the book. I love that the mystery winds around with twists and turns and multiple possible suspects that keeps you guessing till the end. I have to say I thought I had this one figured out but was surprised at the ending which always is good. I give this 5 Stars and can not wait to read the next book.

Maple Mayhem by Jessie Crockett My Review

19486380

Maple Mayhem A Sugar Grove Mystery by Jessie Crockett is a good cozy mystery set in Sugar Grove where Maple Syrup is what most people harvest. Dani and her family have been in the maple sugar business for generations and Dani is taking it one step further by trying to start a coop between all the growers to make it more economical for all of them. When someone starts sabotaging those who are joining the coop and then one of the biggest and loudest protesters of the coop is found dead Dani has to find out who is causing all the damage and who killed Frank before someone else is hurt and the coop falls apart.

Dani is a petite, spunky woman who loves her family and the maple syrup business. She reminds me of a woman I know who never backs down from a good battle and is a smart hard worker. Dani knows what she wants and works to get it even when obstacles, like someone vandalizing the coop members and even murder, are in her way. I love the close knit family and the small community setting too. It is written in a way that you almost can picture yourself right there in the town.

The book was good just a little slow at first. Wish that it had gotten to the murder sooner but once it did it picked up. The ending was somewhat of a surprise and the murderer was not who I thought it would be. If you like a good cozy with some twists in the plot then you might want to read this one. Has some good recipes too.

This is the second book in this series but it can be read easily without ever reading the first book without feeling lost.

Through the Deep Waters by Kim Vogel Sawyer A Must Read Book

 18310162

Through The Deep Waters by Kim Vogel Sawyer is a good book of hope, forgiveness, and redemption, mixed with love. Kim Vogel Sawyer once again, with this book, reminds us that God loves us and wants to forgive and redeem us.

Dinah has as past that she wants to forget and tries to run away from. She believes she is unlovable even from God. She thinks of herself as broken.  She is very courageous to start out on her own to try to make something of herself but is looking for redemption in the wrong place. We can relate to Dinah in that sometimes we let our past sins become our present stumbling blocks which keep us from God and living the abundant life He has for us. Amos on the other hand has physical limitations and his family thinks of him as broken because of his bad leg that limits him physically. He has a big heart and is a strong willed man of faith who steps out in faith to make his own way.  I find that I can relate to both of them easily while reading this book and watching them overcome and grow which reminds me that we can all learn and grow and are only limited by what we let limit us.

This is a very good book that is not only a good read but is a good book of encouragement and a reminder to the reader that God can heal the broken and loves each and every one of us just the way we are. We don’t have to change us, or be good enough, like Dinah thinks, for God to love us. He loves us and wants to give us forgiveness for our sins and to help us move on from our past mistakes.

This book is a story that shows us how God wants to Forgive, Erase, Redeem us from our past, walk with us in the present, and give us a wonderful fantastic future through Him. I would highly recommend this book and give it 4 ½ stars.

Fun Fantasy For Kids in The Word Changers by Ashlee Willis My Review

24605019

The Word Changers by Ashlee Willis is a fun fantasy book that kids will love. If you are a fan of Narnia you will, I am sure, like this book also. As a Grandmother I am always looking for good books that the kids and I will enjoy and this book does not disappoint. I would highly recommend this book and admit I enjoyed reading it too.

Posey finds escape from her troubled family by going to the library and reading books. When she wakes up inside a book in place of the Princess she finds that things could be worse than what she came from. She must find a way to get back to her world and find the Princess she replaced and all before something bad happens to her.

If your kids or you like a good fantasy, are a big bookworm and want a good message then you must read this book. There is a message of forgiveness, moving beyond our hurt to learning to love.
This is such an enjoyable book. You have a strong willed, courageous girl as the main character and you can relate to her easily. If you are looking for a book that is interesting, exciting and wholesome that throws in good fantasy then you must read this book. I give 5 Stars.

Conquest Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of the book through BookCrash. In exchange for my honest review.
