Throwback Thursday One Of My favorite Authors and Book Lighthouse by Eugenia Price

Lighthouse (St. Simons Trilogy, #1)

Lighthouse (St. Simons Trilogy #1) by Eugenia Price is a must read for anyone who loves historical fiction.  I love how Eugenia Price is a master of bringing the area and people to life in her books.  I love Eugenia Price books. This is a great read. Historical fiction based on a real place. Combines my love of lighthouses, history and a good read.

This is the first book in the St Simons Trilogy. James Gould has a dream to build a lighthouse so he works hard to make the money to move to St Simons and get the contract to build the lighthouse. This is his story and struggles to make his dream come true.  This is a story of determination, faith, hope and yes love. A mans love for hard work, his land and his family. I can not tell you how much I loved this book and trilogy. This is a book that I have read more than once and will read again.

Eugenia Price brings to life the St Simons area and its history by making you feel the struggles and hopes as well as dreams of the people. She paints a picture of the Island and surrounding areas and makes it a place you want to visit.

I highly recommend this book and the series. The other two books are just as good and when you finish them you want more.
The two other books in the trilogy are New Moon Rising (St. Simons Trilogy #2)
and The Beloved Invader (St. Simons Trilogy #3)
New Moon Rising (St. Simons Trilogy, #2)     The Beloved Invader (St. Simons Trilogy, #3)

I hope if you haven't read this book and series you will. I think once you have read this series you will want to read more of Eugenia Prices books. She is a master at historical fiction.

Until next time:

5 Stars to Avenged A Pacific Coast Justice Series by Janice Cantore

Avenged (Pacific Coast Justice, #3)

I give Avenged  Pacific Coast Justice Series by Janice Cantore 5 stars because it is a plot that could be from the news headlines in any city. Carly is a policeman on the streets while her husband is a detective in the gang unit. Carly and her partner find three young gang members shot execution style with a rival gangs tags  near the bodies. Carly and her husband Nick work to get to the bottom of these killings before a gang war starts. Carly and Nick aren't sure if it is the gangs or someone who wants a gang war to start so they must hurry and find the killers before things get out of hand all the while Carly is hounded by a obnoxious want to be reporter Ginny Masters and her boyfriend Dean Barton, who seems to have one mission to discredit Carly.  Things are moving fast and Carly, Nick and the police need to work fast to stop further killings and themselves safe.

This book has everything a good mystery should. It has many different suspects with different motives, action, and suspense. Just when you think you know who was behind everything and why something happens and it changes what you thought you knew. The twists and turns get you guessing until the end and it is somewhat a surprise when you find out what is going on. The only thing this book doesn't have is graphic bloody scenes and bad language which makes it even more of a plus.

This book is well written and I enjoyed the read. Another thing I enjoyed was how the author brings faith and God in. Carly and Nick helps ex gang member Londy who is out of the gangs and living for God. They all go to church together and the church helps other kids who have been in trouble too. This plays into the plot and adds another element to the suspect list and motives.

Overall I think this book is one that if you like mystery, police stories and is a realistic story then you will like this book. This is the third book in the Pacific Coast Justice Series and even though I had not read any of the other books in the series it was easy to follow along. This can be read as a stand alone book but I am going to get the other two books because I liked this one so much.

Must Read Story of Faith, Courage and Perseverance Unstoppable by Nick Vujicic

Unstoppable by Nick Vujicic is probably one of the best books I have read on Faith, Courage, Perseverance and a true Man of God.  Nick was born with out arms and legs but he has never let that stop him from anything. He had learned to adapt and persevere, to become a great Evangelist and motivational speaker and one who inspires many to be all they can be. He has overcome many trials but has come out on top because of his faith. In this book he tells us how that has been possible.

I loved this book. I love how open Nick was about his struggles and how he was bullied but I think more than anything I love his passion and faith in God. Nick tells us how he has learned to have courage and overcome obstacles by living his faith. He is very opened about his life and how he has learned with God's help that he was made unique so that God could use him in a unique and special way to help others. He is a remarkable person, but not just because he has overcome not having limbs to do just about anything he wants, but he is remarkable to me because of how he loves and follows
God and his beautiful love and faith in God. He doesn't just talk the Faith but he puts his Faith in action, believing and doing. I think one of my favorite quotes from the book is in the introduction when Nick says " Putting faith in action is about believing and achieving. It's about having faith in yourself, your talents, your purpose, and most of all, in God's love and His divine plan for your life." The book is all about how Nick has lived this way and shows us how we can too.

I would encourage you to read this book. It not only tells you about Nick's life and faith but shows you how to put your faith to work also. It has some good points on learning to activate your faith and put it into action with examples of how Nick has done that in his own life. I think this is one book that I would read again and again besides sharing with other. I would give it 5 stars and more.
